Product Description 3M's basic Filtrete filter. The MERV 8 efficiency is better than an average pleated filter, but not as good as Filtrete's Micro Allergen or Ultra Allergen models. The Model 600 utilizes a "pinch pleat" design, which does not have the rigid and more costly frame cross members that are standard on 3M's higher-end models. The "pinch pleat" design saves you money. Please note that these Filtrete filters measure approximately 0.3 inches smaller than the stated size in order to conform to industry standards.

The Dust and Pollen Reduction Filter helps you maintain a healthier home environment. View larger. | Electrostatic Design Captures More Particles The 3M Dust and Pollen Reduction Filter is made with both positively charged and negatively charged fibers that act like tiny magnets to attract air-polluting contaminants. Since particles in the air are either positively or negatively charged, they are attracted to and captured by the filter and kept out of your living space.Electrostatic filters, including the 3M Dust and Pollen Reduction Filter, perform better than comparable non-electrostatic fiberglass and washable/reusable filters, because they attract and capture the small, allergy-aggravating microparticles that non-electrostatic filters can't. Improves Indoor Air Quality With indoor air a surprising two to five times more polluted than outdoor air, the 3M Dust and Pollen Reduction Filter can make a difference in maintaining a healthier home environment by cleaning air with each pass through the filter. Ideal for capturing large particles from the air, including household dust, pollen, dust-mite debris, and lint, the 3M Dust and Pollen Reduction Filter features a 600 Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR). Improves Efficiency This dust and pollen reduction filter also keeps your heating and air conditioning equipment working efficiently by removing dirt and reducing strain on the motor. It is recommended that you change the filter every three months. However, the effectiveness and life of the filter can vary and depend on the individual conditions in your home. The right filter for the job August 8, 2010 Richard S. Miller 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the right filter for my new high efficiency gas furnace. It filters out soot from the streets but doesn't restrict air flow by the condenser's fan.
The best filter for heat pumps. July 16, 2010 jegs 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was using the red Filtrete 1000 filters and my HVAC tech said those were too restrictive for a heat pump system since a heat pump relies on more airflow to obtain their BTU rating than a conventional furnace system. He recommended I use a cheap pleated filter one step above the worthless fiberglass type filters. Now I believe that a heat pump relies on good air flow but I also know that HVAC techs rely on service calls. They love to come out and clean your system because it is full of dust from a cheap filter and charge you an arm and a leg. Dirty systems are also not covered under warranty so it's a win win for them. I did some research and found that some cheap pleated filters can also be very restrictive. I really wanted to use a good filter like the Filtretes but needed something with more airflow. I saw on the blue 600 Filtrete filters that it said "Best Filtrete filter for high velocity equipment" so I tried one and it is the perfect match between airflow and air cleaning ability. I highly recommend the blue Filtrete 600 for your heat pump system.
Appears to clear the air without over-restricting the air flow March 24, 2010 Doug (New Jersey, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I admittedly did not expect to experience much of a difference in air quality in my home. I was just looking to replace my previous ones with filters that claim to filter well but won't shut down my central air system by over-limiting the air flow (as happened once before with a more dense filter). I've used this one for several months now and have been sniffling 'a whole lot' less. Also, my central air system has not shut down yet (same one in for about 4 months now). Recommended.
No issue with that filter December 15, 2009 BBRay (Dallas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I haven't tried any other brand or type of filter. It will not be fair for me to say this filter is great. However, at least, I can say "I don't have any issue so far since I have used this filter for almost one month."
Good Filter/Great Price December 10, 2009 Foots (NoVA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As recommended by my local hardware store, I finally moved away from "blue floss" filters. I compared prices, and quality: I'm very pleased with 3M filters.
